How and Where to Store Your Kratom

If you should ever find yourself opening your cabinet and seeing massive amounts of Kratom, or you’re a new Kratom consumer and wondering where you’re going to put all of that new Kratom you’ve just purchased from Kats Botanicals, then no worries.

Kratom is a resilient little plant and there are certain cases and scenarios where you will be glad you read an article like this one to help you create the perfect environment for your Kratom.

It is said that when Kratom sits around unused, the active ingredient in Kratom, the mitragynine compounds gradually transform into a compound called mitragynine pseudoindoxyl*, which is said to have little to no pain killing properties and may even act as an opiate antagonist.

You definitely don’t want that, so take a look at how you can begin storing your Kratom the right way.

How to Store Kratom – For Daily Users

In order for your Kratom to keep its effectiveness and potency, make sure your kratom is stored in a cool environment that is free from humidity, oxygen, and ultraviolet light.

These are the normal Kratom users tips to store your kratom. Any cupboard is fine as long as the bag stays sealed, you probably won’t give it a chance to go bad or turn on you if you’re a consistent consumer daily.

How to Store Kratom – Saving it For Later

If you’re like me, then you probably like to stockpile a nice little backup stash in order to prepare for a rainy day.

When this happens, you begin to realize storing everything in your cabinets probably isn’t going to work.

And it won’t if you’re saving 5 – 10 extra kilos for later.

Pretty soon, it will begin to go bad on you and you definitely don’t want that to happen.

First of all, make sure your Kratom is placed in small plastic bags. It’s best to place a small one or two day supply in each bag. Dividing the Kratom into small bags will enable you to use the Kratom in small batches, so the remaining can remain in airtight, cold storage until right before you’re ready to use it. This helps to ensure optimal freshness.

Once this is done, make sure you remove ALL OF THE AIR from each bag. A vacuum sealing device is your best bet, unless you’re a pro at sucking air out of a bag. Honestly, I made my own storage work by carefully sealing the bag while pushing the air out at the same time. You know this drill, do it with care and expertise.

Actually, there is a third party tip I saw in one of the groups I’m in where one person mashed all of the air they could out of the bag by doing the pressing, and when they couldn’t get any more air out, they stuck a straw in the corner of the seal and started sucking the air out. Kinda like a vacuum device I guess, and it does work because I tried it.

Next, once you have your bag sealed, place them inside a tin or a plastic container so no light can get to your Kratom.

The main destination for your Kratom needs to be stored in a cool dry place just like you would your normal bags. Some people store it in the freezer, and, while the verdict is still out on whether or not this will keep long term, reports of several users I’ve talked to have said it does work. You may need to keep a check on it for freezer burn if you do it this way.

Storing Pre-Brewed Tea

A lot of users would rather pre-brew their Kratom tea and drink when they need it. If you’re one of these people, then you probably already know that you can only store pre-brewed tea in the refrigerator for 5 – 7 days before it starts to go bad.

While I don’t know why you would want to store it this way, I’m still going to give you the tip because some people do this, so here goes.

If you absolutely MUST pre-brew your tea before you store it, you can actually freeze your pre-brewed tea. However, the catch is, you have to make sure you follow these tips:

  • Brew your Kratom tea
  • Pour what you want to store in a sealed plastic container
  • DO NOT use a glass bowl or drinking cup, a water bottle is fine

The reason for all of the fuss is because when you freeze your pre-brewed tea for storage, remember that liquids expand when they freeze so leave about ⅕ of the bottle empty to allow for the intended expansion that will happen upon freezing. If you don’t, the bottle may explode during this process.

In Conclusion

To prevent your Kratom from transforming into something you don’t want, make sure your storage area is the right fit for your plant. Long term storage is just as important as anything else when it comes to discussing Kratom.
