It’s eight pm on a Friday night and dressed in our nicest jeans, casual sandals, and just a hint of Friday-night makeup, my friend and I weren’t headed to a local bar for alcoholic drinks. We had something far better in mind.

We love hearing your stories about how you enjoy Kratom products in a new and exciting way. Including your first-hand reports of the new Kratom bar trend sweeping the US. This is an exciting turn in the world of Kratom. We believe these herbal establishments will continue to gain popularity as an alternative to traditional bars or coffee shops. However, since these are relatively new, it may be hard to find Kratom bars near you.
Today, Kats Botanicals is discussing Kratom bars:
- Tips for locating a Kratom bar near you
- What type of atmosphere Kratom bars present
- Types of botanical drinks that may be on the menu
- And more!
What Is a Kratom Bar?
A Kratom bar is a communal establishment that sells a variety of Kratom-infused beverages. These bars or lounges often have a relaxing vibe akin to a coffee shop and are generally alcohol prohibitive. Gather with fellow Kratom enthusiasts, enjoy the atmosphere, engage in conversation, and, of course, drink Kratom drinks. The term “Kava bar” is often used interchangeably, but each establishment is different and may favor the use of one botanical substance over another.
A bar may be called a Kratom bar if Kratom is the main attraction. Likewise, Kava bars serve mainly Kava-infused drinks but may also sell Kratom drinks or products. Cannabis drinks may also be served in areas where it’s legal, or if it’s not, “hemp-flower” infused drinks may leap through legal loopholes and make the menu.
The most notable difference between a Kava bar and a Kratom bar may be in the ambiance more than the menu. Like traditional bars or other gathering places, the atmosphere can vary widely. Bars may adopt an Americanized theme or go more traditional, incorporating some cultural nods to Southeast Asia or the South Pacific, where Kratom and Kava are native.
The two different botanicals also carry a bit of a vibe-difference in terms of use. Kratom, for example, can be a very individual experience, which may be reflected in the atmosphere of a Kratom bar. Kava is known to be used communally as a friendly way to connect with others, so this type of ambiance may be more likened to a Kava bar.
What’s the Difference Between Kava and Kratom?
Before you head to a Kratom or Kava bar to seek out your next favorite hangout, review the differences between Kava and Kratom so you’ll know the types of drinks you’ll want to order. If you’ve never tried either, many bars offer sample shots so you can taste and feel the effects before you buy.

What’s the Atmosphere Like in a Kratom Lounge?
The ambiance of a Kava or Kratom bar is quite diverse, depending on the bar’s ownership and decor. Check out the website, any pictures or reviews you can find on social media, and ask around to find out if the Kratom bar near you is worth a visit.
- Light & airy, welcoming & laid-back, with instrumental, indie, or live music
- Darker decor, booths, and sitting areas for enjoying your drinks alone or in small groups
- Beachy or lively with an island vibe and decor
- Sporty or party atmosphere, like a traditional bar
- Studious, intellectual, or coffee-shop-like, communal sitting areas, artwork on the walls
Kratom Bar Testimony
We thought we’d share with you a story from one of our contributors on their experience in visiting a Kratom lounge.
It’s eight pm on a Friday night and dressed in our nicest jeans, casual sandals, and just a hint of Friday-night makeup, my friend and I weren’t headed to a local bar for alcoholic drinks. We had something far better in mind. We headed about 30 minutes over to the next town to enjoy a night of meeting new people, socializing, telling our favorite stories and drinking Kratom mocktails at a Kratom bar we found online. It was so nice to ditch the usual Friday night drinks for something more natural, and feel good about it at the end of the night. The regular bar scene is so overdone. To be honest, we’re rather sick of the drama.
This place was nice! By the end of the night, we’re smiling, feeling relaxed, yet somehow energized about the laid-back atmosphere, openness, and odd familiarity of all the faces we met. We loved the indie-vibe music, and the Kava and Kratom mocktails we ordered. Mine came in a coconut husk. If you’re thinking about going to a Kratom bar, it’s a great idea. And the best thing of all…no hangovers!

Tips for Finding a Local Kratom Bar Near You
Finding a local Kratom bar may not be as easy as you think. Many areas do not yet have them, so you may need to widen your search area.
Using Internet Searches:
- Kratom bar near me
- Best Kratom bar
- Kratom drinks near me
If that search doesn’t help, or if the only results are local smoke shops, then try these:
- Kava bar near me
- Best Kava bar
- Kava drinks near me
If you find a local Kava bar in your area, check to see if they carry Kratom drinks, too.
Using Social Media:
Search for Kava or Kratom groups in your area, which are great sources of information, recommendations, and reviews:
“I loved it! It really calmed my nerves ! Tasted great also ! They have live music too…definitely a chill spot to go relax & enjoy the good vibes!”
“Nice and tasty Kratom teas with a twist.”
Ask Other Kratom Users:
Kratom bars are fairly new on the scene, with the first US Kava bars appearing in Florida around the early 2000s. Some may not have a well-established internet presence…but local Kratom shops (smoke shops) or friends who use Kratom may know of a social gathering place and can highly recommend it.

Legality of Kratom Bars in States and Local Counties
Kratom use is federally legal in most of the US, though different states and counties may have imposed more restrictive laws or bans on the substance known as Kratom, some types of Kratom products, or specific alkaloids found in Kratom. At this time, Kratom is unregulated by the FDA. Learn about the legal status of Kratom where you live and nearby cities where there may be a Kratom bar in your area.
Some states have not banned Kratom, but your county may have. A good example of this is Sarasota County in Florida, which takes an “outright ban” approach to Kratom.
Kava is legal in all 50 states.
Ordering Kratom Shots or Drinks
Don’t be afraid to ask how strong a Kratom drink is so you can order the best strength for your body. Be wary of over-enthusiastic salespeople in Kratom bars if they make you feel like sales and repeat business are more important to them than your comfort and personal experience with the herb. Remember to stay hydrated while you enjoy your Kratom shots, teas, mocktails, or smoothies.
Can I Smoke at a Kratom Bar?
This depends on the laws in your area and the rules of the particular Kratom establishment you patronize. While cannabis smoking, for example, may be as frowned upon as drinking alcohol, there may be a vape or cigarette smoking area outside.
Can You Buy Kratom at a Kratom Bar?
Some Kratom bar owners subsidize their incomes with a lucrative Kratom-selling side gig. They may sell Kratom bags for their clients who find a strain “on tap” that they particularly enjoyed the effects of and want to take home.
If not, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with more than 45 different Kratom strains here at Kats Botanicals. So the fun doesn’t have to end when you get home! Check out our Kratom strains comparison chart to select the perfect strains of raw Kratom powder, capsules, and more.

Driving While Enjoying Botanical Bar Drinks
Ensuring informed choices means planning ahead and being on the safe side. We all respond a little differently to herbal substances like Kava and Kratom. Though Kratom isn’t intoxicating like alcohol, Kratom may make you drowsy if you take too much or if you aren’t used to its effects.
A hyper-responsible Kratom bar will remind you to consume Kratom responsibly. And we second that, wholeheartedly. Because botanicals like Kratom and Kava may influence how you feel, you may want to pre-arrange a driver that can get the whole party home safely. Kratom’s effects usually begin to wear off after a couple of hours.
