We’ll discuss:
- How White Maeng Da and White Borneo Kratom are made
- Where each of these quintessential Whites is grown and harvested
- How careful cultivation, expert harvesting, and the latest in Kratom science all converge to create these unique Kratom strains
- And, most importantly – What makes each of these strains different, and how do you choose between White Maeng Da vs White Borneo?
Let’s dive right in!
Understanding White Vein Kratom Strains
All Kratom comes from the leaves of the Mitragyna speciosa tree which hails from the nutrient-rich soils and tropical rains of Southeast Asia. The leaf material of these towering trees is where the prevalence of Kratom’s alkaloids is concentrated. As Kratom matures it develops naturally into a reddish hue along the veins of the leaves. Unless, of course, cultivators want to make a White or Green Vein Kratom.
Then, expertise, experience, and science converge to develop either pale powders we call White Vein or the greenish hues of the cousin Kratom strains we call Green Vein. Let’s take a look at how White Veins, specifically, are made and how they are unique in terms of properties and benefits. Read here to learn more about which Kratom strain is right for you.
How White Vein Kratom Is Developed
Before the leaves on the Kratom tree fully mature into reddish veins, they are hand-harvested and bagged to take to their respective drying areas. Select hand-harvesting is preferred as it is the most sustainable harvesting method, the most precise, and the regular harvesting of the trees promotes the healthy growth of new leaves.
Before the Kratom can be ground into pale-colored powders, they must be carefully, and thoroughly dried to prevent exposure to molds, mildews, or contaminants. Depending on the desired strain outcome, this involves following exact drying methods utilizing both indoor and outdoor drying areas. Sometimes the stem and vein portions of the leaves are removed, and sometimes they are left intact during drying. (These are removed before crushing and sometimes sold separately as stem and vein Kratom.)
Controlling the delivery and duration of UV light, and temperature, harvesters craft various White Vein Kratom strains following precise and documented methods. This is done in multiple regions of Indonesia, producing even more variance among White Vein Kratom strains.
For example, our White Elephant Kratom takes more time to grow into large elephant-like leaves, and after picking the harvested Kratom leaves are dried indoors for 24 hours with their stems intact. Then, they are taken outside to dry in the sunlight for 24 hours. The process is a little different for each White Vein strain we produce…but all are meticulous and time-consuming to get it perfect! Don’t worry – we’ll keep doing this because that’s what it takes to deliver a pure Kratom experience, tailored to your unique needs and preferences, right to your door at home!
Properties Of White Vein Kratom
- Pale in color – Powders can be light buttery or creamy hues, light tan, or tan.
- Alkaloid-rich – White Vein Kratom has a variety of the 25+ Kratom alkaloids, including Mitragynine. One unique feature of Whites is that they seem to have more 7-hydroxymitragynine than the other veins.
Effects Of White Vein Kratom
White Vein Kratom strains are wildly popular because they bring a suite of benefits that are unique in the botanical world. Because the Mitragyna speciosa tree is closely related to the coffee plant, you’ll often see comparisons of some of the strains to the effects of coffee. This is especially true of White Vein strains.
- The most similar to coffee-like effects of the Kratom varieties
- Many enjoy the pick-me-up without jitters or “sugar crashes” as with energy drinks or caffeine shots.
- Generally more “elevating” than the Red and Green strains
- Purported invigorating properties make this vein suitable for morning and early-day use
Because White Vein Kratom is known to be a strong experience, we recommend lower-than-average dosing until you become more familiar with the effects, especially for new Kratom users. Your standard dose of a favorite Green or Red Kratom strain may be too strong if taken in equal measure in a White Vein, simply due to the feel of the White Vein effects. So, take it slow when you try a White Vein for the first time. (Here at Kats, we like to say “Start low and go slow.”)

Single Strain Kratom Vs Blended Strain Kratom
This is where we get into the biggest difference between White Maeng Da and White Borneo. Some White Kratom is made from a single strain, meaning one particular type of tree, region, and harvesting method produces it. Others are made by blending two or more different strains of Kratom to produce one strain that’s named.
White Maeng Da is a blend, while White Borneo is made from a single strain. Both produce potent experiences for Kratom users, but the White Maeng Da is slightly more pronounced due to elevated alkaloid levels in the strains that produce it.
What Is The White Maeng Da Kratom Strain?
Maeng Da is considered one of the most potent and substantial Kratom experiences you can get before turning to Kratom extract products or Kratom shots. If you’ve been using Kratom for some time and need the extra boost of a stronger leaf, then Maeng Da may be your best Kratom strain choice.
Note, our Maeng Da is available in several varieties: White, Red, Green, Plantation, and Yellow.
The White Maeng Da strain is named as a “Maeng Da” because it shares certain qualities with, say, a Red Maeng Da or a Green Maeng Da, all of which are naturally strong blends. The term “Maeng Da” translates to “pimp” strength, a regional slang term for this type of naturally strong Kratom. Our White Maeng Da is made with 70% White Kratom and 30% Green Kratom, both of which are strong enough to earn the Maeng Da moniker. Both are harvested in the JongKong region of Indonesia.
The White Vein Kratom portion of the blend is dried outdoors for three days with the leaves and stems intact. Then, the veins and stems are removed and the remaining leaf matter is dried indoors for two more days. The Green Vein Kratom that goes into our White Maeng Da is dried for a day indoors, then briefly dried outdoors in the sun. Both are ground and combined in the right percentages to produce the perfect White Maeng Da.
Our White Maeng Da is available in two all-natural forms:
What Is The White Borneo Kratom Strain?
As the name suggests, our White Borneo strain is produced in Borneo, the largest of the Sunda Islands in Indonesia. The rich essence of these Kratom trees is captured by another unique harvesting and drying process.
The leaves are dried with their stems intact, indoors, for two full days. Then, it’s taken outside for two hours of direct sun exposure. Following precise drying procedures ensures your White Borneo Kratom is abundant in an alkaloid and terpene profile that’s intensely motivating and pleasantly balancing.
White Borneo is also known for its natural potency in single-strain Kratom products. In fact, among five varying Kratom veins tested in one Kratom study, White Borneo produced the highest concentration of extracted total alkaloids. Alkaloids tested for in this study were Mitragynine (MG), 7-hydroxymitragynine (HMG), Speciociliatine (SC), Speciogynine (SG) and Paynantheine. Powders from the island of Borneo impressed with notable content of Mitragynine and Paynantheine.
Our White Borneo is available in two all-natural forms:
Note: Our Borneo Kratom comes in Red, too!
